I managed the restaurant for five years and graduated in 1991 with a Bachelors Degree in Business Management. I'm a fifth generation Las Crucen and I attribute a lot of my work ethics to my Grandfather (Isaac Chavez). He was a successful businessman who owned a large farm in the beautiful "valley" of Las Cruces. He worked full-time until he turned 85! That was unfortunately the last year he was able to drive his tractor! One of his first investments in real estate was the area now known as "Picacho Hills". This was in the 1940's and he sold it back then for $250 an acre. His story was, "They said this desert area would never be worth anything!" He grew old to see, that had he held on to it, he would have been very wealthy! Now it is home to one of the most beautiful and upscale neighborhoods in Las Cruces.
